People are wanting to use a 3rd-5th round pick on a power RB. This would be huge mistake unless the coaching staff find a guy that is just extremely dynamic. Which in the later rounds takes luck. Lions staff doesn't know too much more than anyone else. Now a 3rd round pick is just absolutely an absurd place for us to take a RB. 3rd round is a for sure starting LB for us. 4th and 5th round your talking about taking a RB over Mark Herzlich or Casey Matthews. A speedy WR has more upside in the 4th or 5th round than a RB. Now you also have to realize that RBs average career in the NFL is 5 years. For this reason I am not to high on drafting RBs early. We really need a good draft this year and drafting a RB doesn't make sense. There are plenty of RBs decent RBs in free agency that can easily be signed. The Lions front office must have a plan if they have currently passed on Kevin Smith.

Drafting a RB
There has been a lot of speculation that the Lions will use a draft pick on a RB in the upcoming draft. Best is not an every down back and nor do we want him to carry a heavy load. The problem is that you bring a power RB in to carry the load. We don't want that either, when we believe we have a stud RB already. We don't know that home run hitter. In my opinion are backup RB should be an all around back, but excel in pass protection. Now I saw Morris come in late in the season and play well. He got some good yardage when he got the ball. Felton also looked good carrying the ball. Felton definitely did have a key fumble against Dallas. I would say between Felton and Morris we have the backup RB we're looking for. I don't think you can include Aaron Brown in this discussion. Clearly he was unable to get himself on the field, because he wasn't talented enough. Now, I'm going to put it on the coaching staff to share the carries more with Morris. When Morris came in, he played well. I feel like the coaching staff fell in love with Best too much. I realize I just bashed Brown and it's the coaching staff that puts him in, but I am going to trust the coaching staff on that one. Honestly they should almost consider trying to make Brown the 3rd WR.
